Khawla Barley
Khawla currently serves as Head of Initiatives for SOUAE where she oversees the Unified Champion School program and has developed numerous programs within the UAE schools and community. Such program includes Unified Robotics, the largest inclusive STEM program in the region and the Learn to Cycle which provides a complete developmental pathway for unified athletes across the UAE.
Prior to her role at Special Olympics UAE, Khawla established Goals UAE, the first community-based initiative in the region providing ongoing sports and leisure activities for individuals on the autism spectrum. Goals UAE aimed to demystify engagement with autistic individuals and pave the way towards inclusion. Khawla served as Assistant head of Delegation during the Special Olympics World Games in 2019 and Goals UAE teams represented the UAE in five sports, capturing 20 top three podium positions.
Khawla is a frequent speaker on topics relating to inclusion, family support, CSR and the role of sport and leisure for people of determination.
