H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdulhadi AlKhazraji serves as Executive Director of the Healthy Living Unit, Department of Health. He is responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategies that promote healthier lifestyles across the UAE. His role involves overseeing programs related to physical activity, nutrition, tobacco control and mental well-being, with the aim of preventing chronic diseases and enhancing overall public health. H.E. Dr. AlKhazraji works closely with government entities, healthcare providers and community organiSations to ensure policies and initiatives are aligned with national health goals and sustainable development priorities.
His immediate past role was Director General of Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre where he was responsible for delivering the centre’s vision of moving “towards a healthy and safe society” by leading the initiatives and programs of preventing disease, prolonging life, and promoting a culture of a healthy living among citizens and residents of Abu Dhabi, as well as contributing to emergency response operations related to epidemics, infectious diseases, disasters, and crises. Prior to this, he served as Executive Director of Strategy & Policy at the Department of Health, where he was responsible for leading all activities under strategic planning, performance management and institutional excellence, policy development, digital health and analytics, and transformation. He has also served as the Director of Health Affairs at the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, and Senior Director of Medical Operations at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Dr. AlKhazraji has over 15 years of healthcare experience across public and private sectors and has held various pivotal roles and responsibilities within the healthcare ecosystem, including chairing committees and leading projects that that introduced cutting-edge care solutions in the UAE. He is Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), and an alumnus of the UAE Prime Minister’s Office Government Executive Leaders program.
