More than 20 schools in the United Arab Emirates have been given tickets for the opening three matches of the FIFA Club World Cup as part of a Local Organising Committee (LOC) programme.
Students will be able to watch football’s continental champions in action at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
The opening FIFA Club World Cup match sees Al Jazira take on Oceanic Champions League winners Auckland, with the winner going on to face Asian powerhouse Urawa Red Diamonds. The tournament’s second game pits Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca against Mexican outfit Pachuca.
His Excellency Aref Hamed Al Awani, Tournament Director of the LOC, said: “We are delighted with the enthusiasm shown by all of those involved with the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 Community and Corporate Leaders programme and thank them for their generous support.
“We have engaged with schools, communities and universities around the UAE as part of our touring Mobile Roadshow, as well as hosting events with the likes of Dubai Police and People of Determination.
“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone to enjoy the matches, as they show their support for all of the remaining teams” he added.
The ticket drive is also part of a wider healthy living initiative, encouraging people to get active and lead a healthy lifestyle. Working with schools, colleges, universities and football academies, the LOC’s mission is to empower communities to learn, get inspired and get active through sporting events such as the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017.
