H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, has thrown his support behind several upcoming Dubai Sports Council initiatives.

Sheikh Hamdan visited the Dubai Sports Council’s headquarters to chair a meeting of its Board of Directors, which discussed future projects around national and community sports goals.

The Crown Prince reviewed a project to develop and expand Hatta Sports Club, plans which include building a 5,000 capacity stadium as well as other facilities.

He also attended a presentation by Matar Mohammed Al Tayer, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, about the Council’s successes and the future programmes, initiatives and projects.

Sheikh Hamdan – who spearheaded the Dubai Fitness Challenge initiative – highlighted the importance wider participation in sport and instructed the board to encourage community members, especially the youth, to join and participate in national sporting activities, festivals and championships.
