Abu Dhabi investment firm Mubadala has added to its sports partnerships portfolio, becoming the Official National Supporter of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 and 2018.

The tournament, which brings together six continental champions and a host representative, takes place annually and returned to the UAE in 2017 for the first time in seven years.

Matches take place in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, with Mubadala’s partnership – which ties in with their goal to encourage young people in the UAE to have a healthy lifestyle – welcomed by the Club World Cup’s Local Organising Committee (LOC).

“Mubadala is a leading global investor and we are thrilled to welcome them as the official national supporter of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 and 2018,” said His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, tournament director.

“Mubadala has a history of developing sporting partnerships to the absolute benefit of the local community in Abu Dhabi. The UAE’s vision to be an international leader in sport is shared by the LOC and Mubadala, and we look forward to hosting two globally recognised football tournaments with them as a partner.

Homaid Al Shimmari, deputy group CEO and chief human capital and corporate officer at Mubadala, added: “The FIFA Club World Cup is one of the most sought-after trophies in club football. It brings together the world’s greatest teams to showcase their skills.

“Mubadala is proud to be the official national supporter for the 2017 and 2018 editions. Through our outreach programs we aim to encourage members of the public to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle, helping them become well-rounded individuals who positively contribute to society.”
