Emirates is the fifth most visible brand in the world on social media according to a report from Brandwatch, a social media monitoring firm.

The UAE’s flagship carrier performed impressively in the rankings, which considered the world’s top 100 brands, with only McDonald’s, Nike, Adidas and Coca-Cola finishing above them.

Emirates was the only airline to make it into the top 50 and was ranked above tech giants Apple and Google – around 478,000 unique images of Emirates were posted on Twitter and Instagram last year against 445,880 of Apple.

“Carlsberg, Nissan and Emirates generate the highest volumes of images from male authors, mainly due to sponsorships of male-dominated sports,” the report said.
