Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) will continue to sponsor Dubai’s premier golf competitions until 2021 after agreeing a new deal with the Dubai Desert Classic and the Dubai Ladies Classic.

EGA has sponsored the Desert Classic since its inception in 1992 and has also partnered with the Dubai Ladies Classic since its inaugural edition in 2006.

Abdulla Kalban, managing director and CEO of EGA, said: “We are delighted to extend our association with professional golf in Dubai, which has played an important role over many years in raising the profile of the Emirate and showcasing it as an innovative, cosmopolitan global hub for business and tourism.

“EGA is at the heart of the aluminium industry in the UAE, which is a significant driver of economic diversification. Events like the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and the Omega Dubai Ladies Classic have helped drive growth in other sectors of the economy to the benefit of society.”

EGA extended its golfing reach in October, announcing that it would become a presenting partner of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, which will now be called the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA.

“DUBAL and then EGA have made a phenomenal contribution to raising the global profile of these two major events in Dubai and the profile of Dubai itself,” Peter Dawson, chairman of Golf in Dubai, said.

“It has been an extremely exciting journey with a UAE-company that has become synonymous with our sport.”
