Indoor sports venue Dubai Sports World has returned, once again sponsored by Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA).
The project will run until September 10 and offers members of the public a variety of sports facilities in an air-conditioned arena at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
It is the third Dubai Sports World to be sponsored by EGA, and is organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre and the Dubai Sports Council.
EGA Senior Vice President Khalid Buhamaid said: “Participating in and supporting Dubai Sports World enables our staff and other people living in the UAE to remain fit, while simultaneously creating awareness around the importance of health and wellness.”
The ninth edition of the project opened on 19 June and is open from 8am to midnight each day.
All the facilities are indoors and air-conditioned, and include professional-standard pitches for five-a-side and seven-a-side football.
Rugby, basketball, badminton, volleyball, cricket, tennis and table tennis are also on offer in the 25,000 square metre arena. There is also a gym and cycling and fitness studios.
EGA employees in the UAE have been offered more than 150 hours of access to the facilities for free.
The 2018 edition was the busiest yet and the project has grown dramatically since it began in 2011.
Crucially, the indoor sports facilities encourage local residents to stay active through the hot summer months.
Mahir Julfar, Senior Vice President of Dubai World Trade Centre, added: “We are working towards promoting healthy lifestyle experiences, and look forward to a fun-filled event this year, with an exciting line-up of sports to create memorable experiences.”
