His Excellency Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri has served as the Director General of the General Authority of Sports since  February 2024, meticulously managing UAE’s sports system and overseeing the implementation of projects envisioned  under the ‘National Sports Strategy 2031’. His able leadership has strengthened the cooperation between key  stakeholders of the UAE’s sports sector, while advancing critical projects, programs and initiatives aimed at achieving  national sports goals and ambitions 

Over the years, H.E. has held several key offices in the sports sector, serving as the Chairman of Al Ain Football Club in  2016 and as Chairman of Al Ain Sports Club in 2013, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Al Ain Cultural Sports  Club in 2013. He also chaired the UAE Handball Association in 2008, was a board member of the Executive Committee of  Al Ain Cultural Sports Club in 2004, and was Vice President of the UAE Volleyball Federation in 2004. H.E. commands robust expertise across diverse fields, owing to his long and meritorious career. He began his  professional journey as a lieutenant colonel in the UAE Armed Forces, serving between 1983 and 2003, and worked as a  Senior Manager at the Emirates Bank from 2004 to 2010. He then assumed the role of the Director General of The Zoo  and aquarium public institution in Al-Ain for 14 years, before accepting his current position as the Director General of the  General Authority of Sports.
